Susie Lucille Vasseur was born in Drew Mississippi on April 25, 1941. She passed away on September 20, surrounded by family and friends in her home of Aurora, Kentucky, formerly a longtime resident of Hanson, Kentucky.  She was the daughter of the late Murray Williams and Susie Williams of Hanson, Kentucky. 

Susie was a retired L.P.N. Instructor of the Health Technology School of Madisonville, KY. In 1992 she was chosen as Outstanding Teacher of the year by the Kentucky Industrial Education Association. In 1985 the Greater Madisonville Area Chamber of Commerce named her as Educator of the Year. She taught nursing for over 27 years, and helped countless students achieve their goal of becoming a qualified nurse. 

She was charter president and past district president of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 236 Calvert City, Ky., and is honored by the college scholarship given by the Auxiliary in her name.  She was twice nominated as a Kentucky Colonel, and is a member of Hardin Baptist Church. 

She is survived by her husband Thomas A. Vasseur of Aurora, KY, one daughter Melonie Weatherford and her husband Richard Weatherford of Lawrenceville, GA, and three granddaughters, Devon Weatherford of Huntsville, AL, Emily Weatherford-Richard and her husband Justin Richard of Augusta, GA, and Noelle Watson and her husband Kellen Watson of Houston, TX. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Murray Williams and mother, Susie Williams, three infant daughters, Belinda Annette, Melinda Suzette, and Marla Wynette, and one sister and three brothers, Dovie May, Emerald Willliams, Rodney Williams, and Jimmy Williams. 

Friends and Family may visit and pay respects at Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY on Tuesday September 24, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 11:00 am on September 25, 2024 at Collier Funeral Home. Interment will be at Lakeview Baptist Cemetery, Calvert City, KY. Brother Ricky Cunningham will be officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to Susie L. Vasseur American Legion Ladies Auxiliary post 236 College scholarship fund; P.O. Box 305, Calvert City, KY 42029.  Susie was a devoted wife, loving mother, a die-hard UK fan, never missed a good sale, and was a good friend to everyone she ever met.  She will be missed.
