Shirley "Shirl" Ray Sheppard

Shirley "Shirl" Ray Sheppard, 80, of Benton, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee.

Shirl was born at home in Paducah on February 7, 1942 to the late Charlie Sheppard and Reba Lucille Lovett Sheppard. He was an iron worker out of the Local 782 and also had his own business of installing carpet and tile. Shirl was an avid hunter who enjoyed trading guns and knives and watching late model dirt track racing. He loved to spend time with his family and adored his grandkids and greats who called him "Pap." Shirl was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Wanda Clark Sheppard; his daughter, Melynda Story (Mark) of Benton; one brother, James Sheppard (Robin) of Reidland; two sisters, Linda Camper of Benton and Mary Ann Warner (John) of Paducah; three grandchildren, Briston Ray (Levi) of Livingston County, Phillip Pritchard of Mayfield and Corley Lawrence (Justin) of Benton; ten great-grandchildren, Carter, Gavin and Amelia Ray, Kamdyn Longman, Tre Pritchard, Ayden, Grayson, Remington, Owen and Aggie Lawrence.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Monica Lynn Sheppard; brother, Joe Marshall Sheppard; sister, Margaret Wood; one great-granddaughter, Keyleygh Pritchard; and his parents.

A Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Collier Funeral Home located at 211 West 5th Benton, Kentucky 42025 with Bro. Edgar Lee Paschall officiating. 

Interment will be in Marshall Co. Memory Gardens, Benton, KY.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Collier Funeral Home.
