Sherry Goheen, age 93, died peacefully on January 31, 2025, with family at her side.

Sherry was known by friends and family as a vibrant and fun-loving person who had a keen sense of fashion. A long-time resident of Calvert City, she enjoyed a lengthy career as secretary to principals at both North Marshall High School and North Marshall Middle School. She accompanied many students over the years on field trips, seldom missing an opportunity to go someplace new. Upon her retirement, she traveled extensively in North America, South America and Europe.

She was born and raised in St. Louis, where she enjoyed ice skating and developed a lifelong passion for the Olympic sports of figure skating and gymnastics. Her family moved to Princeton, KY when she was a teen.

She enjoyed camping with her husband and daughters across the United States and Canada. She also spent many weekends on western Kentucky’s recreational lakes enjoying houseboating and summer friendships. Sherry loved attending performances at both the Carson Center in Paducah and the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville. She was a member of Kuttawa Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Cyndy Goheen-Bushart (Mark), of Eddyville and Kim Goheen Lacy (Mac) of Bardstown; a granddaughter, Ashley Wayland (Jonathan) of Hendersonville, TN; two grandsons, Sam Lacy (Nika Mathis) of Bardstown and Ben Lacy of Louisville; and two great-grandsons, Jaxon and Ashton Wayland of Hendersonville, TN. She is also survived by a sister, Chris Knoth of Kuttawa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Flora Salyers, of Princeton; her husband, Sam Goheen of Calvert City; a brother, Ira (Sonny) Salyers, of Princeton; and a granddaughter, Melissa Hope.

Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 9, followed by a celebration of her life at 2:00 p.m. at Collier Funeral Home in Benton, Kentucky.
