Ruth Frances "Fran" Newton

Ruth Frances "Fran" Newton, age 77 of Benton, KY passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024, at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah.

Born Saturday, October 5, 1946 in Marshall Co, KY, she was the daughter of the late Alie Ham and the late Muriel (Brown) Ham.

Fran was a cook at Marshall County Hospital and a nursing assistant for several years, but her most loved job was raising her four children. She was a member of Southland Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband Ellis Leon Newton of Benton; son, Monty Edwards wife Neacie of Eddyville; daughters, Marlana Sholar husband Timmy of Hardin, Ginger Doughty husband Teddy of Benton, Mignon Higgins husband Jamie of Aurora; brother, Jim Smith wife Katie of Oregon; grandchildren, Kyle Clark, Chelsey Watkins, Casey Dawes, Brandon McCoy, Corey McCoy, Clayton Edwards, Lindsey Edwards; and great grandchildren, Kiera Clark, Keaton Clark, Kenley Clark, Eli Watkins, Kohen Dawes and Jaxon Edwards.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joyce Peppers.

A Funeral service will be at 12:00 PM on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at Collier Funeral Home, located at 211 West 5th St., Benton, KY 42025 with the Rev. C.C. Brasher officiating. Burial will be in Briensburg Cemetery, Benton, KY.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Collier Funeral Home.
