Robert S. Thweatt

Mr. Robert S. Thweatt, 56 of Benton, KY passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital in Lexington, KY.

Born Friday, June 11, 1965 in Taylor, MI, he was the son of the late Bobby Neal Thweatt and the late Maria (Fernandez) Thweatt. Robert retired after 31 years of service as the plant manager with Federal Materials in Murray, KY. He attended Murray First Pentecostal Church in Murray, KY. 

Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.  He loved his boys, they were the light of his life, and all the guy things they did; he loved his grandbabies.  He was a great "Grampy"! He loved his dogs, Isabelle, Itty, Chuck and Lina, his girl.

But in the last year, from March 2021 for that time until this past Saturday, Robert was loved and cared for by a group of amazing people, that we now know as family.  The staff at University of Kentucky A.B. Chandler.  7200 ICU and 7200 PCU gave Robert and I life for that year. His transplant team from every resident, attending physician and everyone that had a part in his care were the ultimate caring professionals. His  Registered Nurses, CNA, Respiratory Therapy, Physical, Occupational, Speech, Music, Art Therapy, they gave more than 12 hour shifts, they dedicated themselves all with the goal of getting him home to me. They came in days off, stayed after shifts were over to spend time with him. They gave him a birthday party and spent time watching the Thanksgiving Parade and spent many hours watching ballgames and television shows. They gave us the most precious gift, a Christmas together.  Making it feel like home surrounded by family. They gave him love, peace and security and above all a place in their hearts. They were his life for a year. He and I love them all as family, the gratitude we have for them is unmeasurable and will never be forgotten. That group of ladies and gentlemen deserve and will each receive every jewel they will get in their crown one day. They gave Robert and I a year we couldn't have had together, We Love You!

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Tonya J. (Kidd) Thweatt of Benton, KY; sons, Jacob Thweatt of Benton, KY and Zachary Thweatt, wife Kelli of Sharpe, KY; sister, Renee Thweatt-Smith, husband Benjamin of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Jensen Thweatt, Addison Thweatt, Skie Thweatt, Isiah Thweatt and J.J. Thweatt; nieces and nephews, Maria Smith of Evansville, IN, Benji Smith of Evansville, IN, Kristen Phillips of Opelika, AL, Whitney Cardwell of Opelika, AL and Cody Henson of Opelika, AL; sister-in-law, Rebecca Milby of Opelika, AL.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Isaac Ruger Thweatt.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 18, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY with Pastor Jonathan Casner and Rev. Randy Lowe officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Brewers Cemetery, Benton, KY.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at the Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, KY.
