Robert L. McCormick

Robert Lee McCormick (Bob, Rob) passed away at Lakeland Regional Hospital on April 9, 2025. Rob was born with his twin brother Richard Douglas in Chilhowie VA on May 10th, 1935.

Rob is survived by his wife, Amelia Mae McCormick, who he has been married to for 71 years, and their 2 children - Suzanne Stearns of Indialantic, FL and Douglas Lee McCormick of Lakeland, FL. He was predeceased by his daughter, Deborah Lynn Bradley of Apollo Beach, FL They have 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Rob and Amelia have lived in Lakeland since 1992 and have been members of the 1st Baptist Church since that time. Rob served in several capacities including Usher, served on the Building Committee and New Member Committee. Rob served as Deacon until health issues moved him to the inactive list. Rob and Amelia served as Sunday School Directors includes Directors of the Compassion House class.

Rob was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Calvert City KY and a member of the Schreiner Lodge in Brunswick GA. After working in the trade for several years, Rob went to work for Babcock & Wilcox, a Global manufacturing, engineering and construction company. He held many different positions starting as a welding technician, Project Manager in charge of building Power Plants, Regional Representative and ended his 30+ year career at B&W as Western Region Manager. He also served as Vice President of two other Construction companies and started his own business named McCormick Consulting Services.

Rob was an avid golfer and played with his son Doug for more than 40 years. They both live at Grassland Golf & Country Club Community. Rob had three holes in one and Doug had six. Doug lives on the 11th fairway and Rob has lived in Turnberry for more than 20 years.

Visitation will be held at City Central Church in Lakeland, FL at 10:00 am on Monday, April 14 with services to follow.

Visitation for burial will be on Saturday, April 19 at 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Collier Funeral Home in Benton, Kentucky. Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM at Provine Cemetery in Benton, KY with David Puckett officiating.
