Robert J. Hughes

Robert Jewell Hughes, age 97, of Benton, KY, died Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at his residence in Benton, KY.  Mr. Hughes was a retired truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Local 236. 

Robert was the son of the late Condie Miller Hughes and the late Burnice (Mills) Hughes. He was also preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his wife; Dortha Jean (Rose) Hughes of Benton, KY; one son: Bobby Hughes and wife Deana of Benton, KY; one daughter: Glenna Rawls and husband Earl of Mayfield, KY; four grandchildren: Brandon Hughes (Katie), Katrina Watson (Bryan Reed), Christina Perry (Jesse), and Chris Rawls (Cherlyn); seven great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. 

Arrangements are being handled by Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, July 14, 2023.  Funeral service will be at Collier Funeral Chapel at 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 15, 2023 with Rev. C.C. Brasher and Jeremy Rose officiating. Interment will follow at New Zion Cemetery, Benton, KY.
