Mary Elizabeth (Burnett) Draffen, 86, of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mary was born on January 6, 1940, in Gallatin, Tennessee, to the late Floyd Gilbert Harris Burnett and Redella Dean (Steele). She devoted herself to her family, leaving behind a lasting legacy of love and treasured memories.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 29 years, William Dale Draffen of Benton, Kentucky. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Melvin, Joseph, and Edward; and her sisters, Martha Watkins and Inez Ellis.
She is survived by her children, William Brett (Laurie) Draffen of Calvert City, Kentucky; Theodore Brian (Colette) Draffen of Wilmington, North Carolina; and Heidi Denise Eyer (Mark) of Paducah, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Corey Draffen, Justin Draffen, Logan Draffen, Kiera Draffen, and Grant Eyer; four great-grandchildren, Emily, Ethan, Dylan, and Adeline; and many treasured nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sisters, Ladonna Burley of Biddeford, Maine, and Linda (Ronnie) Stiles of Gallatin, Tennessee; and her brother, Cordell (Lita) Burnett of Lebanon, Tennessee.
Mary lived with a quiet strength grounded in faith, love, humility, and a genuine concern for those around her. She gave freely of herself, often placing the needs of others before her own and finding simple, thoughtful ways to offer encouragement and support. Her gracious spirit and generous heart touched the lives of all who knew her. Through her kindness, selflessness, and compassion, she left an example that will continue to live on in the hearts and lives of those she loved.
A private funeral service will be held with immediate family to honor and celebrate Mary’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that friends consider making a donation to Sunrise Children’s Services (sunrise.org/donate/) in Mary’s memory, in support of its mission to provide care and hope for families and children through Christ-centered ministries.
