Martha Mann

Martha Sue Mann, age 85 of Benton passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at her home.

Martha was born in Pemiscot County, Missouri on October 16, 1939 to the late Charlie and Woodie Payne. She was the proud owner of Mann's Fish Market and a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church for 57 years. She was the president of the Women's Gideon Auxiliary.

She is survived by her four children, Mylinda C. Whitaker of Gilbertsville, KY, Cathy A. Driskill (Wade) of Smithland, KY, Douglas A. Mann (Janet) of Benton, KY, Barry S. Mann (Rhonda) of Gilbertsville, KY; one brother, Jimmy Payne (Leone) of Godly, TX; one sister, Virginia DeGroot of Dexter, MO; seven grandchildren, Deanna Bassett (Mitch) of Grand Rivers, KY, James Whitaker (Danielle) of Gilbertsville, KY, Christina Ortez (Daniel) of Murray, KY, Marcus Mann of Calvert City, KY, Travis Mann (Kate) of Nashville, TN, Anna Perez (Omar) of Benton, KY, Sam Mann of Gilbertsville, KY; nine great grandchildren, Alexander Whitaker, Zachery Bassett (Karlie), Gavin Bassett, Devin Bassett, Valerie Perez, Harper Mann, Daniel Perez, Evelyn Perez, and Vivian Perez; and three great- great grandchildren. Aiden Bassett, Justin Plukett, and Colton Bryan.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Melvin Douglas Mann; her parents, Charlie Payne and Woodie Strawn Payne; her twin sister, Mary Mann; one brother, John Payne; son-in-law, Dr. Barry Glenn Whitaker; and one grandchild, William Mann.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Collier Funeral Home with Bro. Charles LaChance officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Maple Cemetery in Caruthersville, MO.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Collier Funeral Home.
