John "Lurch" Adams

John "Lurch" Anthony Adams, 74 of Gilbertsville, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at his home.

John was born in Marshall, Missouri on March 20, 1951 to the late James Michael Adams, II and Ines Stocker Adams.  For 25 years, he worked as a boat builder for Sea Ray.  From a young age, John was a skilled carpenter and handy man who could fix just about anything.  Whether constructing trucks alongside his brother or tackling home improvement projects, he enjoyed helping others.  John loved being outdoors-mowing lawns, landscaping and riding 4 wheelers with his wife.  Together, they shared countless rides and memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew them.  A lifelong fan of drag racing and NASCAR, he admired legendary driver Bill Elliott.  John enjoyed watching all sports, especially his favorite teams, the UK Wildcats and Alabama.  More than anything, he loved spending time with his friends and family. 

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy Sherear Adams; two sons, John Anthony Adams, Jr. (Candace) of Dexter, KY and Joseph Michael Adams of Gilbertsville, KY; daughter, Lisa Buchanan of Benton, KY; God-daughter, Meisha Wilkins (Wendell) of Calvert City, KY; brother, James Michael Adams, III of Locus Grove, GA; brother-in-law, Jack Sherear (Denine); God-brother, James Robert Stocker, Jr. of Benton, KY; special nieces and nephew, Nicole Adams, Sarina Matthews, Karen Reed, Alexis Marcoux, Frank Palmieri, Jr.; five grandchildren, Madison Green (Brendon), Mason Buchanan, Meah Buchanan, Bryson Adams, Olivia Adams; and several God-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Kentucky Lake Mission Church 5570 Moors Camp Hwy, Gilbertsville, KY 42044, with Bro. Danny Holt officiating.
