Jerry K. Hobgood

Jerry Keith Hobgood of Benton, KY, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, September 6, 2023, at Baptist Hospital in Paducah at the age of 82. Jerry was most recently a resident at Stilley House assisted living facility in Benton, KY.

He is survived by his son, Greg Hobgood (Teri) of Reidland, his daughters, Diana Hobgood Branthoover (Ron) of Bakersfield, CA, Lydia Hobgood-Dorn (Bobby) of Greenville, SC, his grandchildren, Jackson Hobgood and Ella Hobgood of Nashville TN, and his brother, Tommy Hobgood (Dianna) of Benton.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Martha Gregory Hobgood, his youngest daughter Marti Hobgood, father, Bill Hobgood, and mother, Mary Hobgood, his brothers, Ronnie Hobgood and Mitchell Hobgood

Jerry was born in Benton on April 20, 1941, to Bill and Mary Hobgood. He graduated from Benton High School in the class of 1959. He was an Army veteran, and he worked as an electrician for more than 40 years as a member of IBEW local #816. He retired from TVA/Shawnee Steam Plant, where he worked as a member of the maintenance team. Jerry was an advocate for helping people as a regular blood and pheresis donor for the Red Cross and he and Martha were respected, hard working members of Baptist Disaster Relief as they shared their time and skills following multiple national disasters. Jerry and Martha shared the passion for riding motorcycles on many cross-country trips with friends. Jerry was a member of Briensburg Baptist Church in Benton for many years, where he enjoyed fellowship with other members.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church cemetery with Bro. Brad Walker officiating, where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Martha, and his daughter, Marti.
