James H. King

James H. King, 81, of Benton, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at his residence.

He was born on Wednesday, March 14, 1945 in Paducah, KY to the late Ivalina (Adams) Burd VanCleave and the late H.T. VanCleave. James worked as a teller at the Bank of Marshall County as well as several other banks in the area. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. 

James is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret (Harris) King of Benton; one son, Kevin King of Benton; two sisters, Gena Burd Hicks and Sue Ellen Young; as well as 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Debi Marie King; and two brothers, David Burd and Michael Lee Burd.

 A graveside service will be held at a later date. 

The family asks that donations be made in James's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter, 101 Bullitt Lane Suite 208, Louisville, KY 40222.
