Irene Morton

Irene Morton, 88 of Hardin, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray, Kentucky.

Irene was born in Melvindale, Michigan on April 27, 1936 to the late Dennis Morton and Lois Darnall Morton.  She was a huge UK basketball fan.  Irene was a member of Hardin Baptist Church where she worked as a janitor. 

She is survived by her children Linda Cox (Tim) of Hardin, KY, Donna Morton of Paducah, KY, Benny Morton (Patty) of Benton, KY, Mark Morton (Margret) Hardin, KY, Shane Morton of California, and Wendy Darnall of Benton, KY; seven grandchildren, Melinda, Clay, Josh, Shawn, Joseph, Dwayne, Chad; five great-grandchildren, Ally, McKenzie, Piper, Aubree, Oaklee; three great, great-grandchildren, Abel, Amelia and Auggie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Morton; three brothers, Tom Cope, Joe Cope and Art Cope; and her parents.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Collier Funeral Home with Bro. Jeremy Short officiating.  Interment will follow at Edwards Cemetery, Benton, KY.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, Kentucky.
