Ian Michael Allen Timpe, age 23, of Benton passed suddenly on Friday, September 15, 2023 at Marshall County Hospital.

Beginning his career at Kentucky State Penitentiary in May of 2022, Ian quickly became a member of KSP's Certified Emergency Response Team. He was promoted to Sergeant in June 2023, serving as the youngest Sergeant in KSP history. He took great pride in his work, and is described as a light by those who worked closely with him. Never failing to prioritize the safety of those around him, he earned the 2023 Hero Award at the Kentucky Council on Crime and Delinquency Conference in early September.

Ian was a devoted father, son, and partner. In his off time, you could find him working on his car or getting a tattoo until his children were done with school. Then, you could find him making memories with his two boys and partner. His favorite thing was having his entire family together, out in the sunshine, laughing and spending time together. That, and a fast car with an elaborate sound system.

Ian's smile was contagious and his laugh filled a room. He was steadfast in his love for his children and his partner, who thought he hung not only the moon, but the galaxy along with it. He was brave and strong, but also thoughtful and strategic. He earned the respect of all who knew him. Ian was beloved.

Ian is survived by two sons, Dewi Timpe and August Timpe; partner, Alexandra Smith; mother, Gloria Timpe; father, Kamiah Timpe; sisters, Abigail, Chloe, Reagan, and Rylee; brother, Adam; grandparents, Pam and Jim Felkey, grandfather, Keith Timpe Sr.; grandmother, Rosa Candelario, mother of his child, Chelsy Timpe; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ian is preceded in death by cousin Alexis Timpe.

Memorial contributions may be in the form of donations made to a memorial fund to benefit Ian's children. The family will be setting up the account at CFSB.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 2:00 PM at First Christian Church in Benton with Rev. Kristi Stuckel and Bro. Richie Clendenen officiating.

The visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at First Christian Church in Benton.
