George Hubbard

George Hubbard, 72, of Smithland, Kentucky, passed away at his home on Friday, February 28, 2025.

George was born on October 18, 1952 in Land Between the Lakes to Dale and Bernice Hubbard. He dedicated many years to being an over-the-road truck driver. George was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed hunting and telling jokes. Most of all, he loved his wife, Aretta, and his dogs, Gypsie and Brooke. George also cooked some of the best BBQ around.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Aretta Hatfield Hubbard; two step-daughters, Gina Gilley (David) and Melissa Duncan; two grandsons, Blake Patton (Christy) and Tyler Baker (Teri); one granddaughter, Amelia Hrepeck (Tommy); seven great grandchildren, Chloe Patton, Embya Patton, Thomas Patton, Bobby Patton, Lillyann Patton, Conner Baker, and Rosaleigh Page; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Bernice Hubbard; one brother, Richard Hubbard; sister-in-law, Pat Hubbard; one sister, Alma Hubbard; and grandparents, Mosie and Lucinda Hubbard and Peachy Hubbard.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of George Hubbard to the local animal shelter of your choice.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 3, 2025 at Collier Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Newby Cemetery in Land Between the Lakes.

The visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Monday, March 3, 2025 at Collier Funeral Home.
