Dennis Beard

Dennis Robert Beard, 75, of Benton, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. 

Dennis was born in Paducah on July 2, 1948 to Robert Beard and Mary Sargent Beard. He worked as a chemical operator at ISP, now known as Ashland Chemical. Dennis had the passion for beef cattle farming, which filled most of his free time. When not busy working at his farm, he enjoyed the simple things in life, such as spending quality time with his friends and family at his home.

Dennis is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Rhonda Darnall Beard; one daughter, Andrea Hays (Alex) of Grand Rivers; one daughter-in-law, Chaney Chambers; two sisters, Malinda Colburn (Dr. Richard Colburn) of Calvert City, and Marilyn Templeton of Gilbertsville; and four grandchildren, Annie Beard, Blake Beard, Lily Hays, and Levi Hays.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Beard; his son, Andy Beard; and one brother- in-law, Royce Templeton.


Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations made to the Andy Beard Memorial Scholarship Fund at First Kentucky Bank in Benton or West Kentucky Youth Camp, 301 Youth Camp Rd Marion, KY 42064.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 25, 2023 at Briensburg church of Christ with Gary Knuckles officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery.

The visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Briensburg church of Christ.
