Dawn Denise Wilson Darden, 54, of Symsonia, passed away on January 19, 2024 at Baptist Health Paducah.
Denise was born in Paducah on February 5, 1969 to Gilbert Ray Wilson and Joyce Ann Green Wilson. She was the owner of Salon Z Hair and Nail Spa and had previously worked for 20 years at The Ophthalmology Group. Denise was a member of the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce and the Benton Women's Club.
She had a selfless heart and was passionate about helping others in any way she could. Denise was always eager to donate to local charities such as Marcella's Kitchen, Marshall County Exceptional Center, and women's shelters. After the passing of her son, Zachary Douglas, Denise founded and was president of the Zach Douglas Memorial Foundation, that would provide monetary assistance to several local charities and individuals that had fallen on hard times. Not only did Denise have a heart of gold, but she had a glowing personality to match. She brought a smile to the faces of friends, family, and strangers with her quick wit and easy sense of humor. Denise could be considered the #1 fan of The Golden Girls television show. She watched and rewatched episodes from morning to night at her home and at her salon, where customers surely noticed it was always playing on the tv.
Those left to cherish her memory include, her husband of 15 years, Dan Darden of Symsonia; two daughters, Emily Smith of Clinton, and Georgia Darden of Benton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Joyce Wilson and her son, Zachary Douglas.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations made to The Zach Douglas Foundation at CFSB.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Collier Funeral Home with Bro. Kerry Lynn officiating.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Collier Funeral Home.
