Debbie Kay Young

Debbie Kay Young, 72, of Grand Rivers, Kentucky passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky.

Debbie was born in Murray, Kentucky on July 3, 1951 to the late Elvin "Speedy" Phillips and Mary Boyd Phillips. She retired from the United States Postal Service where she worked as a postal carrier.  Debbie enjoyed working in her garden, tending to her flowers and boating on the lake with her husband. She was a big UK basketball fan and loved to read. Debbie was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Rudy Young; one daughter, Mary Ann Ramey and husband, Charlie of Kuttawa; one sister, Vicki Phillips of Calvert City; sister-in-law, Wanda Mitchell of Dawson Springs; brother-in-law, Jimmy Young and wife, Bonnie of Grand Rivers; several nieces and nephews; and one grandson who she adored, Tucker Ramey of Reidland.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Phillips and Curtis Phillips; brother-in-law, Billy Mitchell; sister-in-law, Pam Phillips; and her parents.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Collier Funeral Home with Bro. Jeremy Short officiating. Interment will follow at Dixon Cemetery in Grand Rivers, KY.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, July 31, 2023 at Collier Funeral Home.
