Brenda Scott

Mrs. Brenda Lee Taunton Scott, 63, of Calvert City, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Brenda was born in Champaign, Illinois on December 19, 1960 to the late Donald and Carol Taunton. She was the co-owner of IHS, a business she owned with her husband, Brian Scott. Brenda was a faithful member of more than 20 years at Grand Rivers Baptist Church. She proudly served in the church as a Sunday School teacher and a youth leader, sharing her love of the Lord with the younger generations of the church. 

She loved to live an active lifestyle with many hobbies. Brenda enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and yearly vacations to Florida. She was also was very creative and spent her free time crafting and was a talented artist. Brenda was a pillar of strength and support to her large family; she could always be found supporting and cheering for her grandchildren at every event they were a part of. Brenda was always happiest whenever surrounded by those she loved, not only her children, grandchildren, and friends, but also her dogs. 

Brenda is survived by her husband of 44 years, Brian Scott, of Calvert City; two sons, Cody Scott and Josh (Tara) Scott, both of Benton; two daughters, Thesha Jones (Allen) of Calvert City and Casey Brown (Chris) of Paducah; one brother, Billy Draper; three sisters, Tammie Taunton, Kim Preston, and Annette Draper; and eight grandchildren, Anley Jones, Jasper Jones, Hunter Nichols, Abby Nichols, Brayden Scott, Briley Scott, Avery Brown, and Emersyn Brown.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Taunton and Carol Chase Taunton Draper, as well as her brother, Edward Taunton.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations made in memory of Mrs. Brenda Scott to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Collier Funeral Home with Allen Jones and Bro. Mark Gill officiating. Burial will follow at Calvert City Cemetery.

The visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Collier Funeral Home.
