After a long illness with breast cancer Gary F. Keylon, age 77, of Mayfield passed away January 2, 2024 at the Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield. 

Gary enjoyed trout fishing in Arkansas, golfing, attending Bob Dylan concerts and collecting red Ferrari model cars. He served in the Navy as a hospital corpsman along with the Marines Corps in Vietnam from 1967-1968. Gary was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal for valor in combat. His platoon Sargent was hit under an artillery attack, Gary crawled to him and rendered aid until they were able to get them out of danger. He retired after working at USEC. Later in life he enjoyed traveling with his wife to over 44 states and 9 countries, Italy being their favorite.

Gary is survived by his wife of 34 years, Charlotte McReynolds Keylon; his only daughter, Cassandra Keylon-Boyd of Knoxville, TN, her children, Caleigh Noel Boyd and Kaia Jakobie Boyd; one brother, David Keylon of Kingston, TN;  Charlotte's children, Jessica Riley of Mayfield, KY, Julia (Mike) Widmann of Franklin, TN; Jason (Crystal) Riley of Sedalia, KY; other grandchildren, Tyler Widmann, Lee Spears, Ethan Carlton, Jayce Riley and Cejay Riley. 

He was preceded in death by his parents F.F. and Marie Keylon; two brothers, Michael and Richard Keylon; one sister, Karen Thacker. 

A life celebration for Mr. Gary F. Keylon will be held 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY.
