Edna "Carlean" Black was the youngest of nine children to Carl "Curly" and Edna McCollum. Her last moments she was surrounded by family who loved her very much and the wonderful caregivers who loved and cared for her at Clinton Place Nursing Home. She passed peacefully on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 9:46 PM at the age of 88.

She was a member of the Springhill Baptist Church, filled with special people to her and our family. She had worked at Perkins Pharmacy, Brown Shoe Company, and the Dime Store; she loved to bake cakes and was a master crafter.

Mrs. Black is survived by her son, James Black and wife, Cheryl; daughter, Ginger Bailey and hand-picked son-in-law, Jerry Bailey. She was "Mema" to grandchildren, Courtney Bailey (Bryan) Taylor, Jerrod (Rachael) Bailey, Erica (Davie) Groves, Derrick (Natalie) Lambert, C.J. Black, Candace Black, Cheyenne (Landon) Stewart. Great Grandchildren: Kabrina Draffen, Isabella Bailey-Sims, Kale Newton, Dylan & Lily Bailey, Jesse & Elijah McGary, Ellie Rae, Derrick Russell Jr. & Michael Lambert, Hattie Jean Stewart, and Lincoln Taylor; Great Great Grandchildren: Drayden, Karter, Ezekiel McIntyre. Also survived by her special nephew, Gerald Wayne Byassee and many nieces and nephews whom she held close to her heart.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carvis Black, daughter, Lorenda Marie Black and Cheryl Black Morgan, Grandson, Hunter King, and her special sister-in-law, Dorothy McCollum; brothers: Cecil (Lois) McCollum, Rudolph McCollum, James McCollum, Clarence McCollum, Leroy (Dorothy) McCollum; Sisters: Jereline McCollum, Bertha Mae (Bill) Pinion, Beatrice (George) Byassee.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Brown Funeral Home in Clinton, Ky with closing remarks honoring Carlean's life given by Jerry Bailey, Bobby Perkins (her friend and favorite boss), Jerrod Bailey and any others who wish to share. Graveside remarks will be given by her great nephew David Dixon at the Springhill Cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 AM on Monday, March 31, 2025 at the Brown Funeral Home in Clinton, Ky.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Byassee, Tim Dixon, Landon Stewart, Bobby Mays, Sandi Mays, and Davie Groves.
