Jeffrey Alan Carrico passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 25, 2024, at the age of 60.
Born in Fancy Farm, Kentucky, to Dot and Leon Carrico, Jeff’s lifelong dedication to serving others led him to pursue a degree in psychology from the University of Kentucky and an M.D. from the University of Louisville. Following his graduation, Jeff returned to Western Kentucky with his wife, Lisa. Together, they raised three children: Adam, Kelsey, and Kylie. Jeff worked in family medicine and, in 2009, opened his own practice, Western Kentucky Family Healthcare.
Jeff loved his family and community. He enjoyed barbecuing with the Carricos at the St. Jerome Fancy Farm Picnic, hunting, following UK basketball and the Chicago Cubs, reading, and spending time with his beloved family and deeply cherished granddaughter. Jeff practiced family medicine for over 30 years and, later in life, was inspired to gain an additional board certification in addiction medicine. He was one of the first doctors in Kentucky to attain this specialization.
He served on the Graves County Health Department Board, was actively involved with the Life Teen Youth Group for many years and was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church. Jeff was honored with the Graves County Pioneer Award in 2013 and the Exemplary Teaching Award from the Kentucky Academy of Family Physicians in 2012.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Lisa Carrico; his children, Adam (Hanna) Carrico, Kelsey (Braxton) Dallas, and Kylie Carrico; his granddaughter, Callaway Dallas; and his siblings, Becky (Robert) Foy, Don (Carol) Carrico, Steve (Barbara) Carrico, Margie Dossett, Lorrie (David) Courtney, Tim (Melanie) Carrico, Mark (Beth) Carrico, and Russ (Ellen) Carrico. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dot and Leon Carrico.
Visitation will be held at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Fancy Farm, KY, from 5–8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 and from 9–11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Jerome at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 with Fr. Darrell Venters officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Jerome Cemetery.
The family is accepting donations to the Graves County Agency for Substance Abuse Policy/Prevention (ASAP) and Hope Center Mayfield in memory of Jeff.
