Jerry David Johnson

Mr. Jerry David Johnson, 72, of Salem, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at his home in Salem.
Jerry was a member of Pinckneyville Baptist Church.  He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he received training for a paratrooper and sniper.  Jerry loved his family, especially his daughter and grandkids.  He loved to play cards, mow, go to church, and help people whenever he could. Jerry also had a love for trees.  He cut many for his friends and neighbors over the years.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Connie Johnson; daughter, Delaine Johnson of Salem; sister, Sheri Johnson of Paducah; grandchildren, Dylan (Lexi) Sherer, Jordan (Sequoyah) Johnson, Kaomi Riordan, Kennedy Riordan; and several nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his faithful dog, Rosco.
Jerry was preceded in death by his son, David Johnson; and his parents, JD and Betty (Capshaw) Johnson.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 16, 2026, at 2 PM, in the chapel of Boyd Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, with Rev. James Young, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, from 10 Am until the funeral hour at Boyd Funeral Directors and Cremation Services.
