Patricia Rosella Smith

Patricia Rosella Smith, 82, of Murray, passed away Monday, April 13, 2026, at the Murray-Calloway County Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
 
Born on February 11, 1944, in Del Norte, Colorado, Patricia was the daughter of the late Harry Leroy Newmyer, Sr. and Edith (King) Twite.  She dedicated her life to caring for others, working faithfully as a home health care aide with Alamosa Healthcare in Colorado, from which she retired. Following her retirement, she made her home in Murray, Kentucky. Patricia was a devoted member of Riverwoods Church in Benton, where her faith and kindness were evident to all who knew her.

Those left to cherish wonderful memories of Patricia include her children; Linda (Smith) Chestnut of Murray, KY and Richard Smith of Milwaukee, WI; and her granddaughter, Cheryl Chestnut of Murray, KY. She is also survived by a brother, Ray Newmyer of Hooper, CO; sisters, Edith Irene (Jerry) Tucker of Grantville, GA, Ethel Vick of Thornton, CO, Judy Gunter Clements of Monte Vista, CO, Mary (Mark) Nicander of El Verano, CA, Betty Jones of Clifton, CO, and Becky Mott of San Luis, CO.  Patricia will also be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessie Lynn Chestnut; a brother Harry Newmyer, Jr.; and sisters, Connie Smith and Myrna Newmyer.
 
Honoring Patricia’s wishes, her family will celebrate her life privately, with no public visitation or services to be held.  She will be inurned at a later date near her parents, in the Alamosa Municipal Cemetery in Alamosa, CO.
