Pamela Thornton, 74 of Memphis, TN, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Restorative Care, Memphis, TN.
Pamela was born on September 25, 1949, in Memphis, TN, to the late Paul Hubert Thornton and Oneda (Outland) Thornton Kaufman of Memphis, TN. She worked in a variety of fields, but spent much of her career in accounting and finance for the corporate headquarters of Goldsmith’s department store before shifting to the import/export business where she spent the last half of her career and from which she retired.
More than anything, Pamela loved Jesus. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Horn Lake, Horn Lake, MS, where she worked in the children’s ministry for a number of years. Pamela was a kind-hearted woman who cared deeply about others, laughed easily, loved singing, and had an affinity for all animals. She touched the lives of everyone she met with her wit and charm, and she will be dearly missed.
Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are her mother Oneda (Outland) Thornton Kaufman of Memphis, TN; sister, Paulette (Dennis) True of FL; nieces, Dennette (Derek) Foy of FL, and Jennifer True of FL, and many extended family members. Pamela was preceded in death by her father.
A service celebrating Pamela’s life will be held at First Baptist Church of Horn Lake at 3505 Goodman Rd. West in Horn Lake, MS on Saturday, March 16th at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor James Outland and Dr. Tim Trillet officiating.
A private family burial will follow, in the Blood River Cemetery, New Concord, KY.
