Mark Steven Smith

Mark Steven Smith, of Benton, KY, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House, Murray, KY.

Born October 26, 1956, in Detroit, MI, Mark was the son of the late Rudy Clayton and Lois Louise (Hainley) Smith.  A life-long mason by trade, Mark built a legacy through his business, Smith Masonry of Kirksey, KY, where his dedication and skill left a lasting mark on the community.  Beyond his work, Mark was a passionate outdoorsman. As the owner and guide of Hunt West KY, a hunting lodge in Marion, KY, he shared his love for big game hunting with countless others.

Those left to cherish Mark’s memory include his daughters, Brandi Smith Green (Dustin) and Bridget Smith, both of Benton, KY; brothers, Danny Smith (Kathy) of Benton, KY, Jack Smith (Karen) and Jody M. Smith, both of Kirksey, KY; and sister, Sonja Howard (Roger) of Benton, KY; and much-loved grandchildren, Kinleigh, Mason, Carter, and Cooper. Also surviving are his companion, Susan Suiter of Murray, KY; his loving fur baby, Sarah; and many other cherished family members.
   
Mark was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rita Smith.
 
A service celebrating Mark’s life will be held Monday, August 11, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home in Murray, with Bro. Brett Miles officiating.  Burial will immediately follow the service, in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Kirksey, KY.
 
Friends may visit with the family between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home, 713 S. 4th St. Murray, KY 42071.

The family requests that memorial contributions in Mark’s memory be made to Mt. Olive Cemetery Fund, c/o Michael Kendall, 893 Kendall Rd., Mayfield, KY 42066 or to the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House, c/o The Foundation at MCCH, 803 Poplar St. Murray, KY 42071.
