Jordan Dowdy

Mr. Jordan Matthew Dowdy, 34 of Murray, passed away Friday, January 31, 2025, at his home. 
 
Born April 25, 1990, in Dodge City, KS, Jordan was the son of the Rev. Richard Dowdy and Lori (Burkeen) Dowdy of Murray, KY.  He was adopted into their loving family at the age of 4.   
 
Jordan was a member of the Special Olympics family, enjoying track and field, softball, basketball and bowling, and excelling in the shot-put event.  He held a black belt in Taekwondo and was an avid collector of many treasures including knives, swords, turtles, and other things that brought him joy.  He was a jack of all trades and loved using his skills to help people.  Jordan was a member of McKendree Community Church in Graves County.   
 
In addition to his parents, those left to cherish memories of Jordan include his sisters, Tiffany Dowdy of Nashville, TN, Ashlyn Dowdy Jackson (Matt), and Kaylan Dowdy Mays (Nathan), both of Richmond, KY; grandmother, Marita (Evans) Burkeen of Tiptonville, TN; nephews, Finley and Ellis Jackson, and niece Wendy Mays. 
 
He was preceded in death by a sister, Taylor Jordan Dowdy; and grandparents, R.L. and Martha (Kendell) Dowdy, and Howard Wayne Burkeen.
 
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home in Murray, KY with Rev. Richard Dowdy, Lori Dowdy, and Tiffany Dowdy officiating.  Burial will follow the service in the Hicks Cemetery, Murray, KY.
 
Friends may visit with the family Friday, February 7, 2025, after 12:00 noon until the funeral hour at Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home, 713 S. 4^th St., Murray, KY 42071.
 
The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Jordan’s name to Murray-Calloway County Special Olympics, c/o Laura Miller 1537 Wiswell Road West, Murray, KY 42071.
