Mrs. Geneva Lee Cooper, 81 of Murray, KY, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Continue Care Hospital of Baptist Health, Paducah, KY. 
  
Born March 16, 1941, in Murray, KY, she was the daughter of the late Hayden and Geneva Louise (Cleaver) Jackson.  Mrs. Cooper was a professor of Nursing at Murray State University for 37 years and also served in the US Army Reserves for five years. Mrs. Cooper was a Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduate of Murray State University, held Masters degrees from both Murray State University and the University of Mississippi School of Nursing in Jackson, MS, and pursued a doctorate from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL.  For many years, she held numerous offices in the Murray State chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. 
  
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gary Bryan Cooper, of Murray, KY; son, David Cooper and his wife, DeAnn, of Oklahoma City, OK; brother, Ronnie Jackson and his wife, Donna, of Murray, KY; granddaughter, Katie Niles and her husband Isaac, and grandson, Zachary Cooper, all of Oklahoma City, OK; and great-grandchildren, Zoë, Liam, and Ivy Niles, all of Oklahoma City, OK. 
  
She was preceded in death by her parents. 
  
Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at South Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Hazel, KY, with the Rev. David Allbritten officiating. 
  
No public visitation is scheduled, but friends are invited to attend the public service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at the South Pleasant Grove Cemetery, 5671 Crossland Road, Hazel, KY 42049. 
 
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Murray State University Phoebe Fund c/o Office of Development, 200 Heritage Hall, Murray, KY 42071 or to the South Pleasant Grove Cemetery Fund, c/o Ronnie Jackson, 2615 Taylor Store Road, Murray, KY 42071.
