Gary D. Jones

Mr. Gary Douglas Jones, 71 of Murray, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Baptist Health in Paducah, KY. 
 
Born August 15, 1953, in Calloway County, Gary was the son of the late Dale Mason Jones and Verona Ernestine (Towery) Jones.  Gary spent most of his working career as a master electrician and retired from Riley Electric in Calvert City.  He loved the Lord and his family, and enjoyed fishing, cooking and riding his Harley.  He was a member of Sugar Creek Baptist Church. 
 
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Susan M. (Hudgins) Jones of Murray, KY, to whom he was married on October 27, 1981.  Also surviving are a son, Chris Jones, wife Tiffany of Murray; daughter-in-law, Veronica Jones; grandchildren, Austin Jones, Madison Jones, Bailey Jones, Riley Jones and Kaleb Jones; great-grandchildren, Zoey Jones, Colton Jones, Amelia Jones and Dae’Lani Jones; sisters, Lawanda Jones Glover, husband Michael and Lesa Jones Watson, husband Dave; brother, Mike Jones, wife Sherry; and brother-in-law, Edward Hudgins.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.
 
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Ruth Jones; a son, Jason Scott Jones; and a brother, Larry Dale Jones.
 
A service celebrating Gary’s life will be conducted Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home in Murray, KY, with Bro. Philip Bazzell officiating. 
 
Friends may visit with the family Thursday, May 1, 2025, between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home, 713 S. 4^th St., Murray, KY 42071.
 
The family requests that memorial contributions, in memory of Gary, be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hyland Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
