David E. Bogard

Mr. David E. Bogard, 79 of Murray, KY, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Passion and Purpose HomeCare, Murray, KY.

Born August 13, 1943, in Lansing, MI, he was the son of the late Troy and the late Euple Mae (Colson) Bogard.  Mr. Bogard was the manager at Jerry’s Restaurant and Long John Silvers in Murray.  He later worked in the maintenance department, at Fisher-Price/Mattel, until the plant closure.  He was a graduate of Murray High School and attended Murray State University and West Kentucky Community & Technical College in Paducah. David was a 50-year member of the Temple Hill Lodge #276 F&A.M. and a member of the Russell’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Murray, KY.

David is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce (Lax) Bogard of Murray, KY; children, Lisa Bogard Burkeen, husband Ronnie of Dexter, KY, Carol Suzanne Bogard Thurman of Almo, KY, and Kim Bogard Jenkins, husband Kenny of Puryear, TN; grandchildren, Josh Burkeen, wife Ashley of Murray, KY, Jordan Burkeen, wife Danyelle of Murray, KY, Mallorie Hutson, husband Sid of Puryear, TN and Blake Jenkins, wife Brittney of Puryear, TN. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, James Bogard.

Masonic rites will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023 in the chapel of the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life service with Bro. Ronnie Burkeen officiating.

Friends are invited to visit with the family between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home, 713 S. 4^th St., Murray, KY 42071.
