Catherine H. Smotherman

Julia Catherine (Hutson) Smotherman, 98, of Murray, KY, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray, KY.
 
She was born April 30, 1926, in Calloway Co. KY, to the late Hassell Hatten Hutson and Cora Lillian (Clark) Hutson. Catherine was a long-time member of Grace Baptist Church in Murray, KY.
 
Those left behind to cherish memories of Catherine are her children, David (Judy) Smotherman, and Steve Smotherman, both of Murray, KY and Randy (Brenda) Smotherman of Almo, KY; grandchildren, Jonathan (Brooke) Smotherman of Spring Hill, TN, Mindy (Lester) Galbraith of Union City, TN, Julie (Tom) Jansma of Murray, KY, Nick (Kassidy) Smotherman of Park Hills, MO, and Darcie (Austin) White of Murray, KY; great grandchildren, Brendan and Braden Galbraith, Lily Grace, Jack, Preston, and Connor Jansma, Billy and Waylon Smotherman, and Jackson White.
 
In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John L. Smotherman, whom she married on June 25, 1947; a brother, Orvin H. “Bottle” (Mary) Hutson; and sisters, Relna Lee, Marjorie (Leon) Henry, Jean (Ed) Owen and Bobbie (Eddie) Reaume.
 
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home, with Rev. Kerry Lambert officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Puryear, TN.  Catherine's grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
 
Friends may visit with the family between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the Blalock-Coleman Funeral Home, 713 South 4^th St. Murray, KY 42071.
