The $350,000 television campaign funded by the Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund is calling on McConnell as well as senators from Colorado and Florida to act on background check and Red Flag laws in the wake of recent mass shootings.
McConnell had previously said he would not call the Senate back from the August recess to address the matter but has shown some interest in gun safety legislation but has not gone into specifics.
The commercials will run on the morning shows of the three cable news networks and in the home markets of each of the senators.
