A Graves County teen was killed in a single-vehicle accident Sunday night. According to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office, the wreck happened at approximately 8 pm on KY 129 near Pilot Oak.

According to deputies, a truck driven by 16-year-old Ryan Travis of Water Valley was traveling north on KY 129. Travis told deputies he looked off the road for a brief instance and when he looked back he realized he was in the wrong lane. He attempted to change lanes quickly but lost control of the truck and ran off the west side of the road. The truck overturned twice, coming to rest on its wheels.

Travis’ two passengers, 15-year-old Alexis Moore and 15-year-old Evan Crawford, both of Wingo, were ejected from the truck. Crawford was transported by ambulance to Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield where he was later pronounced dead by the Graves County Coroner’s Office.

Travis and Moore were transported to Lourdes Hospital in Paducah. Both were treated and released.

Deputies said Travis was operating on a permit only status license. The investigation is ongoing by the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.

Crawford was a student at Graves County High School and a member of the boys soccer team. Principal Matthew Madding described Crawford as “a good kid.” He said grief counselors were made available for students at the school on Monday.
