In what's sure to be a snow storm that's talked about for years to come, the National Weather Service in Paducah is reporting most ares of Western Kentucky received at least a foot of snow with some areas approaching 15-20 inches.
In Murray, 10 inches of snow has fallen, with snow drifts of up to 18 inches. In Mayfield, 16 inches of snow. Land Between the Lakes (golden Pond), 15 inches. 12 inches of snow fell in Downtown Paducah, with nearby places like Lone Oak and Reidland get around 13-14 inches.
On the Illinois side of the river, Brookport and Metropolis both received around 11-12 inches of snow.
Forecasters are saying winds up to 15 mph are expected across the area, creating the opportunity for the snow to drift. NWS says some drifts are being reported as approaching 3 feet across portions of Western Kentucky.
The sun is expected to shine later today, with an overnight low tonight approaching zero for much of the area.
