A local restaurant in the Jonathan Creek area was destroyed by fire on Saturday.

Boss Hogg's Restaurant at 11728 US Highway 68 East caught fire and the building is a total loss.

On their Facebook page, the owners said, "It is with complete sadness to announce that Boss Hogg’s Restaurant has burned down this morning. Please keep our family, our employees and their families in your prayers as we get through this horrible tragedy."

WKDZ reports firefighters were called to the restaurant around 7:00 am. Initial calls to Marshall County Dispatch reported black smoke inside, but a witness later reported the building was fully engulfed in flames.

The restaurant was slated to celebrate their first anniversary Saturday.

Boss Hogg's Restaurant was formerly Marquita's Place.
