Paducah's warming center at Washington Street Baptist Church needs supplies and volunteers.
Pastor Raynarldo Henderson told West Kentucky Star the warming center needs volunteers to stay overnight and help with tasks such as serving food and registration.
They also have a need for donations of breakfast items such as orange juice, milk, coffee, and microwaveable sausage biscuits.
Henderson said many people might not realize just how many Kentuckians are struggling with homelessness, and he said that number is only growing in Paducah.
"Almost everywhere you look you will find men, women, and some children who are displaced. I'm glad that we have the opportunity to try to meet that need, and we are working hard to do that," Henderson said.
Doors at the warming center are open from 5:30 until 10:30 pm on nights when the temperature drops below 40 degrees. Guests are provided with a shower, hot meals, tv, a computer, and a warm place to sleep.
