US 51/US 60 intersection in downtown Wickliffe to become 4-way stop Wednesday

A busy intersection in downtown Wickliffe will be converted from a 2-way to a 4-way stop on Wednesday morning.

The City of Wickliffe asked for the change to help alleviate backups from the traffic coming off of the US 51 Cairo Bridge. The stop signs will also help get drivers to slow down to the posted speed limits in Wickliffe. 

Currently, vehicles traveling westbound on US 60 to US 51 southbound do not have to stop. The caution light at the intersection will be converted to red on all four sides and additional stop signs will be put in place.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, nearly 7,200 vehicles go through that intersection daily.
