An injury crash involving a truck and a train blocked Krebs Station Road off Husband Road.
According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, just after 7 a.m. a pickup truck, driven by 39-year-old Ryan Green of Paducah, was struck by the engine of a northbound P&L train. The truck was hit in the left front, near the front wheel ahead of the driver. Green did suffer incapacitating injuries and had to be cut from the vehicle by the Hendron Fire Department. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Lt. Trent Hardin of the McCracken County Sheriff's Department told West Kentucky Star that Green was fortunate that the train struck the truck where it did, as a collision in the driver's door could have been more serious.
P&L separated the train so that first responders could work the scene.
Lt. Hardin said that the P&L engine has computer data showing speed, braking, and the distance from the crossing where the signals would have been activated. Preliminary investigation suggests that the signals, flashing lights and an audible bell, were operating at the time of the collision.
The crossing at Krebs Station does not have gates. The crash remains under investigation.
Green was cited for disregarding railroad crossing flashing lights.
