Paducah Public Schools has announced that Paducah Tilghman High School Principal Allison Stieg will retire at the end of this school year.

Stieg's retirement comes after serving 31 years in education. She has been principal at Paducah Tilghman since 2019.

Stieg began her career as a teacher and coach at Ballard Memorial High School and Heath High School before coming to Tilghman in 2002, where she taught math and was the varsity girls basketball coach from 2002 until 2008.

During her coaching tenure, she led one of her teams to the state final four and was named Region 1 All Purchase Coach of the Year and KABC Coach of the Year.

Stieg became dean of students in 2008, where she served for 11 years.

Superintendent Dr. Donald Shively said Stieg's passion for each of the students and the tradition of excellence at Paducah Tilghman has been outstanding.

He said, "She has been a courageous leader throughout the pandemic ensuring our students and staff needs have been met. We will miss her greatly and will always be grateful for her service to Paducah Tilghman."
