Submerged SUV recovered from Ohio River

On Wednesday night, recovery crews hauled up the SUV that was driven into the Ohio River at the downtown Paducah boat ramp early Monday morning.

Dive boats using sonar eventually located the vehicle about 150 yards from the ramp in about 40 feet of water.

A 21-year-old woman was rescued by a nearby barge crew after she drove her car into the water. 

The woman told police she drove into the river in an attempt to kill herself, and police say she appeared to be having a mental crisis. She was taken to Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital for treatment. 

Recovery crews from Livingston and Lyon counties aided McCracken DES in the search.
