Smoke from raging wildfires in western Canada is making its way into the Ohio Valley this week.
The National Weather Service in Paducah reports what was causing the hazy sunrise this morning was smoke blown into our area by high-altitude winds.
Since the smoke is so high aloft, it shouldn't be a concern about air quality for people down on the ground.
There will likely be some spectacular sunrises and sunsets for at least the rest of the week.
The weather service said it's been a very active and early start to wildfire season in western Canada.
On Sunday, officials in Alberta said there were 108 active fires in the province and the number of evacuees grew to about 29,000. More fires are burning out of control in neighboring British Columbia that has disrupted rail service and energy production in the provinces.
More than 2,500 firefighters, including personnel from Canadian and US agencies as well as the Canadian army, are battling the wildfires.
