Robert “Buz” Smith has thrown his hat in the ring for Paducah City Commission.
Smith is no stranger to the position as he previously served on the commission from 1997 to 2008.
He said he served 12 years on the Commission, including four as Mayor Pro Tem and did so with an open ear to what people needed and wanted in Paducah.
A lifelong resident of Paducah, Smith’s sense of giving back to his community has been passed down for six generations, including a grandfather who served on the Paducah City Commission.
During his first tenure on the Commission, Smith participated in introducing the concept of the Artist Relocation Program, supporting the development of the Carson Center, initiating the Fountain Avenue project and Greenway Trail and was a founding Board Member of the Joint Sewer Administration.
He said when we focus on controlling costs, running the city in a businesslike manner and approaching the city’s goals with a commission that possesses experience, enthusiasm and drive. There is nothing we can’t accomplish.
