Rock quarry at Kentucky Lake closed during an emergency recovery

The rock quarry on Kentucky Lake has been closed, temporarily, according to the Marshall County Emergency Management Agency.

The agency posted on Sunday afternoon that divers and emergency units were assisting Lyon County in a recovery effort. Marshall County Emergency Management Director Curt Curtner told West Kentucky Star that operations at the quarry would resume on Monday.

Specific details about the incident or when the quarry might reopen are not yet known. Officials warned the community to stay away from the area until further notice.
