Progress made against Mayfield gang activity

Authorities report making significant strides against gang activity across Mayfield since 2017.

After noting a rise in gang activity and shootings, Mayfield police requested help from federal agends in June of 2017.

Since then, Graves County Commonwealth's Attorney Richie Kemp reports they have made great progress, including 52 guns purchased by undercover law enforcement from people prohibited from owning firearms, and the seizure of over seven pounds of methamphetamine, and 200 grams of crack cocaine.

In addition, numerous people have been convicted and sentenced to prison. Officials said the most notable of which are the convictions of several Vice Lords in 2019, including Jarrod Powell, Vice Lord Chief; Stanford Shelton, Vice Lord 3 Universal Elite; Demetri Ross, Vice Lord Minister of Literature; and Shatiran Noonan, Vice Lord Minister of Justice.
