A Paducah woman was seriously injured on Friday morning after being hit by a pickup truck.

McCracken County Sheriff's deputies were called to Old US 45 at Hillmont drive just after 6 a.m. for what was described as a vehicle versus pedestrian crash. They said that 75-year-old Teresita Lopez of Paducah was walking across Old US 45 when she was hit by the truck driven by 27-year-old Clayton Smith of Paducah.

Deputies called Lopez's injuries incapacitating. She was transported to an out-of-state hospital to be treated.

A pair of nursing students stopped at the scene to render aid. The McCracken County Sheriff's Office thanked Avery Greer and Carley Dowdy for their assistance in helping Lopez.
