Almost 80 years after he was killed at Pearl Harbor the remains of a Paducah sailor will be buried on April 8.

On October 14, 2021, 21-year-old Navy fireman 2nd Class Hal J. Allison's remains were identified. On December 7, 1941, Allison was assigned to the battleship USS Oklahoma when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft at Pearl Harbor.

The attack on the ship resulted in the deaths of 429 crew members, including Allison.

In October, when Allison's remains were discovered, Governor Andy Beshear said flags across the commonwealth would fly at half staff on the day of his burial.
