Paducah man arrested on drug charges

A Paducah man was arrested Tuesday night on drug-related charges.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said they attempted to stop a vehicle on Kentucky Dam Road after they observed 23-year-old David Darnell pick up a package suspected to contain illegal drugs.  Darnell fled and at one point swerved at deputies.

Deputies said while they were arresting Darnell, his vehicle rolled forward and struck a sheriff's office vehicle.

During a search of Darnell, several Xanax pills were found and in the vehicle three pounds of marijuana was discovered.

Darnell was placed in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
