A Paducah man was arrested Thursday following a pursuit from a Kentucky State Police safety checkpoint.
Troopers were conducting the safety checks at the intersection of KY 849 and KY 1684 in Graves County. Just before 1 p.m. a car driven by 28-year-old Delquan Coleman of Paducah pulled up to the checkpoint and Troopers allegedly smelled an odor of marijuana. When they asked the Coleman to step out of the vehicle, he sped away.
Troopers pursued the vehicle along KY 1684 to KY 131 before the Coleman got on southbound I-69. When the vehicle took the exit 25 ramp and slowed, Troopers used what they called a "legal intervention technique" to stop and disable the vehicle along US 45.
Coleman was arrested and charged with fleeing or evading police and criminal mischief. Police said he had allegedly used a stolen identity to finance the purchase of the vehicle he was driving.
