Paducah man accused of theft in Lyon County

A Paducah man has been accused of theft after passing an allegedly bad check to a Lyon County couple. 

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office said that 41-year-old Billy Vandergriff of Paducah was arrested on an indictment warrant on Wednesday. Vandergriff is accused of writing a "worthless" check for over $10,000 to a Lyon County couple. He has been charged with theft by deception over $10,000 following an investigation. Vandergriff surrendered to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office and quickly posted bond. 

The Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation along with the Hopkinsville Satellite Office of the FBI.
