The Paducah Parks and Recreation Department has announced its new reservation policy for ballfields, pavilions, and shelters.

The policy changes come two weeks after an incident at Stuart Nelson Park, where a baseball team was kicked off a field for not having a reservation.

“Our new policy will allow the public greater access to facilities while also providing a reservation system,” said Parks and Recreation Director Amie Clark.

Most facilities are now available on a first-come basis unless there is a reservation. That will include ballfields at Noble and Stuart Nelson Park, the basketball and tennis courts at Noble Park and park pavilions and shelters. However, there will be a rental fee for facilities and ballfields if you want to reserve them for a specific time or need electric or water usage at one of the pavilions or shelters.

There will also be reservation calendars posted at each field and facility reflecting reservations made for that day and signs posted for closures due to wet conditions. Additionally, there will no longer be fees for light usage on ballfields.

Several facilities will always require a reservation, including Wilson Stage on the riverfront, Farmers’ Market Pavilion, Noble Park Amphitheatre, Anna Baumer Building, and the Arts & Crafts Building.

This summer, the department will install informational kiosks with program information and facility reservation calendars for the ballfields at Noble and Stuart Nelson Park.

To reserve a facility, contact Paducah Parks & Recreation at 270-444-8508, visit the office located at 1400 H.C. Mathis Drive, or visit Shelter and Facility Reservations.
